Scholarship Application

Dear Applicant:

The online application for a Senatorial Scholarship for students for the 2017-2018 school year is below. Due to the large number of students and limited amount of funds, awards are limited to a maximum of $400 per year

If you would like to be considered for a scholarship for the coming school year, please fill out and submit the application below no later than Friday, July 14, 2017.

Applicants who have just graduated from high school must provide a copy of the college letter of acceptance from the school you will be attending.  Your application will not be considered if it is received after the deadline, or is not complete.

GENERAL INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS


Thank you for applying for the Senatorial Scholarship for the 2017/2018 school year.  The following general requirements will apply to the application:

1. All applicants are required to completed the FAFSA which must be on file with the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) – available at www.fafsa.ed.gov

2. Applicants who have just graduated from high school must provide a copy of the college letter of acceptance from the school they will be attending.

3. To be eligible for a Scholarship, the recipient must be a Maryland resident and must reside in the 21st Legislative District at the time the award is made.  Temporary residents of the district for the purpose of education are not considered eligible.  To determine whether you live in the 21st District, fill in your address at www.mdelect.net.  Be sure to use the address you used on your FAFSA.

4. Awards are limited to students enrolled in colleges, universities, or approved trade schools located within Maryland, unless the major course of study is not offered at a college, university or school in the state.  Accredited schools only (ineligible schools include University of Phoenix, DeVry, Lincoln Tech, etc.)
 
5. Scholarship recipients do not receive a check in the mail.  Rather, the Maryland Higher Education Commission directly applies the award to the recipient's school. 

6. The online application below must be submitted no later than Friday, July 14, 2017.
