Champion of University of Maryland and Chesapeake Bay. UMCP Student Body President (1950). President Kennedy's appointee as US Attorney for Maryland. United States Senator (1964-70). Appointed to USM Board of Regents by three governors. Championed creation of University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS). Member of UMMS Board (2008-present).

This year, Delegates Barbara Frush, Joseline Peña-Melnyk, Ben Barnes, and I have been working to protect investment in our local schools, improve roads, bridges, and transit, and create jobs. And we're excited that Joseline is running for the US Congress in the 2016 election!

Monarch Global Academy is the new K-8 public school I helped bring to western Anne Arundel to relieve overcrowding in local schools faster (and at lower cost) than the state's traditional approach. Monarch offers students an internationally-oriented, project-based curriculum -- in a exciting visual environment (as you can see in our photo with students!).

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is helping you and your neighbors solve individual problems. In the past year, we helped residents challenge WSSC overcharges, get scholarships to pay for college, and resolve health insurance problems.
